VinUniversity Collaborates with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to Create Opportunities for VinUniversity Students to Study in Hong Kong

July 27, 2022

Recently, VinUniversity College of Business and Management (CBM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, School of Business and Management (SBM) on academic cooperation, including cooperation in student exchange programs, executive education programs, joint research activities, joint organization of conferences, symposia and short visits, etc. As part of the MOU, the business student exchange program will commence from the 2022-2023 academic year.

Every year, a maximum of 4 CBM students will be able to study at SBM and vice versa. The two universities recognize each other’s quality and corresponding credits. Additionally, CBM students will be able to take part in the HKUST International Exchange Program, held in the summer.

Despite being a young university established in 1991, HKUST has risen to 34th place on the QS World University Rankings 2022. HKUST has consistently ranked among the 3 best young universities worldwide, according to Times Higher Education and QS Rankings. Business management is one of the university’s core strengths.

Similar to VinUniversity, HKUST always emphasizes interdisciplinary research and students’ logical thinking development right from their first year.

Sharing the mission of becoming a world-class university and cultivating talents who will contribute to society, the two universities hold great expectations for the future of this collaboration!

In addition to HKUST School of Business and Management, to implement student exchange programs, VinUniversity has cooperated with many reputable universities around the world, such as: Cornell University (USA); University of Technology Sydney (Australia); Yonsei University, Pohang University of Science and Technology (South Korea); University of Toronto (Canada); Nyenrode Business University (Netherlands), etc.

In order to receive the most benefits and the best experiences, VinUniversity students will begin their exchange program in their 3rd year at university. The first batch of VinUniversity students going on exchange programs abroad will start in the Spring semester of the 2022 – 2023 academic year. Currently, there are about 60 student exchange spots available at partner universities for VinUniversity students. The list of partner universities and corresponding exchange spots will be announced in the near future.

Students can choose to attend or conduct research at a partner institution at no additional cost. For example, VinUniversity students will continue paying their tuition fees at VinUniversity and go on exchange at HKUST without incurring tuition costs from HKUST. However, in order to participate in the program, students will have to cover their own airfare, accommodation, and so on during their study abroad.
