December 27, 2021

On December 8, 2021, VinUni University and the Vietnam – Cambodia Marriott Business Council (VCMBC) signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on practical training and quality human resources development for the Hospitality Management industry. This is one of VinUni’s efforts to continue promoting “Industry Engagement” and bring many opportunities for students to experience “real learning – real practicing”.

This cooperation program opens an opportunity to help VinUni students develop practical working skills and effectively apply their knowledge in a professional working environment through many activities such as touring and interning at a complex of 14 hotels and resorts in Vietnam and Cambodia managed by Marriott International corporation. Students are also given the chance to learn about career opportunities before and after graduation, participate in career orientation programs, share experience in applying to top hotels, as well as meet and interact with senior leaders of the business. Also within the framework of this cooperation, VCMBC will accompany and advise on the development of specialized training programs in Hospitality Management and contribute to comprehensive student assessment at VinUni.

In her opening speech at the Signing Ceremony, Professor Sunmee Choi – Dean of the College of Business and Management (CBM) said: “With this cooperation, we believe that VinUni can not only better train our students, but will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the business with elite human resources in the industry.”

VCMBC President, Mr. Mark Van Der Wielen, also expressed his honor about the opportunity to cooperate with VinUni: “A great business is one with a great culture. The soul of our hotel is each individual in it. We also believe that this cooperation not only brings many opportunities for students but also supports the human resource development of our own company.”

Right after the Signing Ceremony, Mr. Mark Van Der Wielen attended the class titled “Hotel Operations Tactics and Strategy” as a guest speaker to give valuable advice and share with VinUni students about the secret to the growth and current success of Marriott International Group. At the same time, after the class, Mr. Mark agreed to become an Advisor for the “Youth Hospitality Association” – an association founded by VinUni students with the desire to connect hospitality management students around the world.
