FAQS FOR EARLY ADMISSIONS RESULT
1. Why did I receive a Congratulations and Offer Letter from VinUniversity?
We sent congratulations letters to those few students who, after the intensive admissions reviews and interviews, have proven to have the academic qualifications and personal qualities that VinUniversity is looking for. You are one of those selected few students. Following this letter, VinUniversity will send you another notice about the scholarship or financial support, fee schedule as well as the academic major that the Admissions Committee has decided for your case.
2. I received a Conditional Offer. What does this mean?
This means that your academic accomplishments, talent and personal qualities make you a suitable candidate for VinUniversity. Your proficiency in English, however, is a little lower than what is needed for you to be successful at VinUniversity. The medium of instruction at VinUniversity is English. This means that all the books, lectures, assignments and discussions at VinUniversity will be in English.
Therefore, the Admissions Committee decided that you should be admitted to VinUniversity provided that you are able to take the necessary steps to improve your English proficiency to the minimum level to join our Pathway English program in the Summer semester. To join Pathway Intermediate you will need to have an English proficiency of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
If you do not have an international English test result like IELTS, you can take VinUni’s official English placement test to determine if you are ready for Pathway English in the Summer semester and, if so, which level you will study. We currently expect that this English placement test will take place in June 2020, but that may be delayed depending on the Covid-19 situation. We will keep you informed of any changes.
If you accept the conditional offer, our Academic English faculty will contact you to guide you on how to practice and improve your English skills. We will help and guide you along this process which will start in April 2020.
3. If I receive this letter, do I need to respond to be considered for the VinUniversity scholarship?
No, you do not need to do anything to be considered for scholarships at VinUniversity. We will be in touch with you after Feb 5 with the decision.
4. When will I receive a notification of your scholarship or financial support?
VinUniversity will be on Tet holiday from January 22, 2020 to February 5, 2020. After that, VinUniversity will send a response to each student.
5. Does this congratulations letter mean that I have been officially admitted to VinUniversity?
The letter indicates that you have met the requirements for admission to VinUniversity. We will send you information about the College and Major that you have been accepted in at VinUniversity, as well as the merit-based scholarship we offer to you. In the absence of scholarship offering, and you have difficulties paying tuition fee due to family financial conditions, we will ask you to fill out a financial aid application. We may also take steps to verify the information that you have provided in your application; determine if your family can afford our tuition, room and board, and decide the level of financial support. Once you receive our complete offer (academic program, scholarship/ financial support, fee schedule) you must decide if this offer is attractive to you. If your Offer Letter includes any conditions for admission, you must complete those conditions. You must also complete your high school requirements successfully before joining VinUniversity in Fall 2020.
6. Does this letter mean that I have been selected into my desired academic program (1st choice) stated in the profile?
During the enrollment process, with advice from the faculty about their potential and interests, many students have decided to change their field of study. Therefore, the VinUniversity faculty are currently deciding which program would be most suitable for each student based on their choice and their talent. We will announce those decisions in another email to you, after Feb 5. When you receive this email from us, you must decide if that program is the one you wish to enroll in and shall confirm your decision with us.
7. How will VinUniversity inform me about the offer of scholarship or financial aid?
We will email each successful applicant with details about scholarships, information for financial aids and other fee schedule. In addition, VinUniversity’s Admissions team will contact each student directly and answer any questions that the students and parents may have.
8. Why wasn’t the offer of financial aid or scholarships sent out along with the congratulations letter?
The selection of scholarships and financial aid has been a rather difficult decision as there are many talented students who deserve merit scholarships or are seeking financial aid. VinUniversity will most definitely offer the scholarships and financial aid to the most deserving students. Our committee just needs more time to make the final decisions.
9. What shall I do after I receive the offer letter?
It is a great honor to become one of a few selected talents to receive offer letter from VinUni. At this time, you do not need to do anything other than to celebrate this news with your family and friends.
10. I have more questions. How do I contact VinUniversity if I have any inquiries during Tet holiday?
We understand that you may have a lot of questions. Our admissions team is ready to assist you. However, between Jan 22 and Feb 5, VinUniversity is on break. We will answer your inquiry after Feb 5. You are welcome to send us an email at students@vinuni.edu.vn, and we will respond as soon as we return to work.
